Nur Syuhada Binte Emanan

Physiotherapist | PhD Candidate

I am a Singapore registered Physiotherapist with over 14 years of clinical experience across public and private healthcare, musculoskeletal practice and community rehabilitation in both Singapore and the UK.

My clinical journey has never been confined to one area of physiotherapy. Over the years, I have worked with people across different stages of life and recovery, from musculoskeletal and sports injuries to post operative rehabilitation, older adults, women’s health and people rebuilding their lives following significant illness.

My interest in ageing and rehabilitation led me to complete a Master of Science in Applied Gerontology at Nanyang Technological University. I later moved to the UK, where I continued practising as a Physiotherapist while pursuing my PhD at Queen Margaret University. My doctoral research focuses on the rehabilitation needs and experiences of people recovering from critical illness after an intensive care admission, particularly what happens after they return to the community.

My years in the UK also gave me the opportunity to continue expanding my clinical skills. Alongside my PhD and clinical practice, I undertook further training in dry needling and women’s health physiotherapy, and most recently completed a Postgraduate Certificate in Musculoskeletal Ultrasound. This has added diagnostic MSK ultrasound to my clinical toolkit, allowing me to use real time imaging where appropriate alongside a thorough physical assessment.

I am now back home in Singapore and continuing my physiotherapy practice while completing the final year of my PhD.

Perhaps the best way to describe my practice is that I bring together a broad range of skills rather than viewing a person through a single speciality. My background in musculoskeletal physiotherapy, rehabilitation, gerontology, women’s health, critical care research and musculoskeletal ultrasound allows me to look beyond just where it hurts and consider the wider picture of your health, function and recovery.

My approach remains simple: listen carefully, assess thoroughly, explain clearly and work with you to find a treatment and rehabilitation plan that makes sense for your life.
